Introduction to Card Issuing (Beta)

ConnectPay Card Issuing API

The ConnectPay Card Issuing API enables Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) partners to embed debit card products directly into their own applications.

Partners can use the API to issue and manage cards linked to their customers’ underlying ConnectPay accounts and support the complete card lifecycle.

This documentation provides guidance on the main card-issuing processes, including:

  • Card issuance and activation
  • Card management and security controls
  • Card limits and transaction settings
  • Card transaction processing and reconciliation
  • Card renewal and replacement

Prerequisites for Card Issuance

Before a card can be issued through the ConnectPay Card Issuing API, the following requirements must be met.

1. Customer Onboarding Completed

The customer must have successfully completed the required ConnectPay onboarding process.

2. Active ConnectPay Account

The end customer, whether a Business or Private customer, must have an active ConnectPay account that is eligible for card issuance.

3. KYC/KYB Verification Completed

The customer must have successfully completed all applicable compliance and verification requirements.

Depending on the customer type, this may include:

  • KYC (Know Your Customer) verification for Private customers
  • KYB (Know Your Business) verification for Business customers

4. Sufficient Account Balance, If Applicable

Depending on the configuration of the card program, card issuance fees may apply.

If a fee is charged during card issuance, the linked ConnectPay account must have a sufficient available balance to cover the applicable fee.
